NIGERIAN TRANSFER
Former Barcelona youngster Adekanye confirms Liverpool move
The Nigerian-born winger has been likened to Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben and has revealed on Instagram that he has sealed a transfer to Brendan Rodgers' side
Former Barcelona youngster Bobby Adekanye has confirmed on Instagram that he has signed for Liverpool.
The Reds have secured the signing of the 16-year-old from the Catalan giants, despite interest from Dutch clubs Ajax – where he spent last season on loan – and PSV Eindhoven.
Writing on the social network, he posted: “I am very happy to sign for Liverpool.”
The Reds are understood to have won the race for the winger, who has been likened to Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben, after promising to integrate him into the first-team this season.
Adekanye joined Barca as a 12-year-old but will not graduate to the first team at Camp Nou, instead sealing a move to Anfield.
The Nigerian-born teenager becomes the Reds’ seventh signing of the summer, joining James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Roberto Firmino, Nathaniel Clyne and youngster Joe Gomez.
